“Good” Cuba “Terrorist” Free in Miami

HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 23 – Santiago Alvarez, a Miami-based Cuban-American businessman who stockpiled weapons to attempt an overthrow of the Cuban government, was freed from US immigration custody in Georgia on Thursday.
Alvarez benefited by the “good terrorist” policy practiced by the US government and court system. The policy has also benefited his longtime associate Luis Posada Carriles, and Orlando Bosch, the masterminds of the bombing of a Cuban passenger plane that killed all 73 persons on board in l976, and numerous other violent actions including hotel bombings.
The 2006 bust yielded 30 automatic rifles, a rocket launcher, several grenades, over 200 pounds of dynamite, and 14 pounds of C-4 explosives.
Alvarez’ sentence was reduced from 4 years to 11 months for voluntarily handing over another hidden arms cache, reported Notimex.
Miami is famous for being the home of numerous Cuban exiles wanted in their home country for terrorism and corruption charges, but protected for having worked directly or indirectly for US intelligence agencies. Posada Carriles, Bosch and Alvarez are just three of them.
The United States government has maintained an economic blockade on Cuba for nearly a half century. It is also currently the only country that US citizens are prohibited by their government from visiting without special US Treasury Dept. permission.
While some talks have occurred between US and Cuban officials, Washington’s hostile Cuba policy continues unabated under President Obama.

The U.S. is a terrorist state. The one who believes in the justifying the killing Innocent people in the name of an ideology is no better than their enemy. The socialist system vs. capitalist system argument is incomplete. If Cuba were to be freed from the embargo today, their socialist system would be more open to change towards a mutual respect. Since the threat would diminished, ideas could be exchanged. What we all don’t need is another war.
The pride of the “dyed in the red” Miami expatriates and exiles will continue to get in the way just as the “dyed in the red” southerners of the south will continue to hold back the progress of their region.
