Chile’s Bachelet Meets with Raul Castro

HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 12 — Presidents Michelle Bachelet and Raul Castro held official talks on Wednesday where they agreed to increase economic exchange and cooperation between Chile and Cuba in several fields including forestry, health, science and technology, sports and biotechnology.

Bachelet is the fourth Latin American president to visit Cuba in the last two months. The others were Cristina Kirchner (Argentina), Rafael Correa (Ecuador) and Martin Torrijos (Panama). Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom will be the fifth when he arrives next Monday.
