HAVANA TIMES – Leaders of the Cuban Communist Party joined their Secretary General Raul Castro at the celebration for the 66th anniversary of the military action led by Fidel Castro, considered the spark that led to the January 1, 1959 victory of the dictator Batista.

Also present for the commemoration on Friday morning in the eastern city of Bayamo was President Miguel Diaz Canel and other government officials.

Local Communist leader Federico Hernandez told the gathering:  “Today we show that Cuba continues to build socialism. We are more united and determined than ever and do not fear imperialist threats, nor the hardening of the blociade or the applying of the Helms Burton,” Law.

In describing the many accomplishments in his territory, Hernandez said Granma province residents wholeheartedly defend the government’s economic policy.  “It will be sustainable if we continue to concentrate on agriculture, which is reactivating and advancing, even if its still not enough.”

Among the good news in farming Hernandez noted a record honey, rice and pork production, and favorable results with beans, coffee, corn and fruit trees.

He further added: “What we’ve already accomplished is still far from our potential,  as we strive to work harder and produce more, export more and develop.”

  • If when you look at the picture above, you hear a creaking sound, it isn’t the chairs, its the bones! It is nice however to see Machado Ventura wearing a white baseball cap instead of his usual blue hard hat, and one can only hazard a guess at why Raul has his hand in the air – maybe someone asked who admired the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba?

  • What always amazes me is how the provocative rhetoric and narrow outlook of “Castrismo” has changed so little since 1960. The same old slogans continue to be repeated ad nauseum, and all the continuing deficiencies in Cuban living conditions are supposedly all due solely to US policies and “embargos” !

  • That’s exactly what I’ve been saying for years!

  • Rahmatullah/Amaque’s misplaced congratulations reflect not having to live in Cuba and experience the consequences of the Castro regime. Those who admire communist Cuba, ought to be obliged to live as a Cuban in Cuba for a prolonged period.

  • Obviously someone with a sense of humour designed the uniforms worn by the evidently overjoyed “Communist Party guests” at the celebration. Funereal black. The facial expressions say it all!
There is a distinct threat in the Communist Party saying:
“What we’ve already accomplished is still far from our potential,”
In short, things can get even worse!

  • ” In our ideas we trust,” I believe is appropriate here. Have a nice, cool day!

  • “Among the good news in farming Hernandez noted a record honey, rice and pork production, and favorable results with beans, coffee, corn and fruit trees.”

    Lies
Communism is a disaster only sheer fear and oppression keeps it’s going.

  • Failure failure failure 60 years of failure

  • Today is the 66th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks. Happy Moncada Day & long live socialist Cuba!
