New Tropical Depression in the Caribbean

HAVANA TIMES – Humid overcast days with some rain starting in the morning and occasional thunderstorms can be expected over the next 7-day period. The winds will be out of the east and the northeast, with speeds between 15 and 25 km/h, superior in zones of the north coast.

The maximum temperatures will oscillate between 28 and 30° C (82 and 86 F), while the minimum temperatures will be between 23 and 24° C (73 and 75 F). The sea surface temperature will be 29° C (84 F).

Meteorological conditions:

Tropical depression number sixteen was formed Wednesday on the southwest of the Caribbean Sea, it is centered about 80 km west-southwest of the Island of San Andres, Colombia, moving to the northwest at a speed of 12 km/h. Its minimum central pressure is estimated at 1005 millibars and maximum sustained winds are 56 kp /h, with upper gusts up to 75 km/h. It is forecast to continue moving north, intensifying as it passes through the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

A low pressure trough located in central Cuba is expanding northward towards the Florida Straits; it is producing an extensive area of ??disorganized rains and storms in the entire area where it is embedded. No cyclonic development of this system is expected, but will be generating convective activity, with intense local rains and strong gusts over central and western Cuba during the next few days.

The rest of the area will have abundant humidity at low and medium levels of the atmosphere.
