Hugo Chavez Is Dead at 58, informs VP
HAVANA TIMES — Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, 58, passed away on Tuesday at a Caracas military hospital, Vice President Nicolas Maduro told a national radio and TV audience.
The announcement was made from the Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in Caracas where the recently reelected president was taken upon his return from Havana, Cuba two weeks ago.
Maduro said that Chávez had died after having battled cancer since 2011. He was operated on four times in Cuba in the doctors’ attempt to defeat the desease.
Just before noon, Maduro had met with the top brass of the Venezuelan military and governors of 20 states.
The vice president also announced the expulsion of two US military attachés for conspiring to destabilize the country.
This is not the time to point out possible, or presumed political errors on Hugo’s part. It is a time to mourn his passing. He is a hero of the people, and will be sorely missed.
Respect is earned, not demanded.

May he rest in peace in the arms of The Lord and of the Virgin Mary. Hugo Chavez was a great Bolivarian, a great socialist, and man who truly loved his people. He will be missed in his home country and also by people who believe that there is a future for humanity
This will undoubtedly be a turning point for Venezuela, and one hopes they are able to navigate through this without any violence or retribution. No doubt the U.S. will be eager capitalize.
But sadly, and no disrespect to Venezuelan peoples who genuinely adore Hugo, I think that the so called revolutionary process might be better off without Hugo, as he was nuts. In saying that i mean no disrespect to the recently departed. Just an observation. Best wishes to the people of Venezuela.
The death of a human being should always be a time for sombre reffection. I cannot say that I was a fan of Hugo Chavez Frias beginning with the derogatory tone with which he alluded to those who stood in his way including socialists and trade unionists to his alliance with some of the most chauvinistic enemies of true socialism from Ahmedinejad to Saddam Hussein and Muammar al-Gaddafi. Still, I cannot help thinking how ironic it is that he dies just after winning that third term in office. He fought so hard to have the second re-election prohibition removed from his own constitution.I wonder if he had reconciled himself with two presidential terms he may not have contracted cancer the way he did. A lesson for Cuba, a lesson for all of us, never think yourself irreplaceable. Ojala que la gente en Venezuela y la gente en Cuba tengan un futuro mejor.
Long live his dream of bettering the lives of the poor and dispossessed of Venezuela.

President Hugo Chávez has at died 4.25 pm, the best homage is to defend is complete the revolution – socialism or death, in Venezuela and worldwide.
Maduro, just moments ago, blamed the US for “attacking Chavez with this cancer”. And so it begins…
