Obstacle to Normal Relations with US

HAVANA TIMES, June 19 — Cuban parliament speaker Ricardo Alarcón told CNN that “it is inconceivable, impossible, to imagine normal relations between the United States and Cuba” while the Cuban Five remain imprisoned (since 1998) in the U.S., convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage.

On June 15 the U.S. Supreme Court refused to consider the appeal made by the defense attorneys who maintain that their clients are innocent, received an unfair trail and extremely harsh sentences in Miami, and were only guilty of infiltrating Florida based rightwing exile groups that plan terrorist attacks against Cuba.
