HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 26 – Actor and part-time journalist Sean Penn reportedly is in Cuba to interview Fidel Castro, reported AFP on Monday.

A year ago, just before Barack Obama was elected president of the United States, Penn also conducted an extensive interview for The Nation magazine with Cuba’s current president Raul Castro.

This time the actor will be writing for Vanity Fair.

Fidel Castro is currently the senior advisor to brother Raul’s government, which is grappling with the effects of an inefficient, low-productivity economy combined with the external factors of the world economic crisis and the half century US blockade on the island.

At the same time President Castro is trying to determine what reforms or changes are needed to strengthen Cuba’s socialist system.
