Cuba’s Universities Prioritize Politics

HAVANA TIMES, July 22 – The changes in higher education that will come into force in the next Cuban academic year will place emphasis on the political-ideological work the professors must carry out, announced the new Minister of Higher Education Miguel Diaz-Canel, reported IPS.

According to the minister, “At the university, the professor or student who is not revolutionary has no room in its classrooms.”   However, Diaz-Canel said the political work would not be carried out as “a campaign or purging process.”
