US Rules Out Gross-Cuban 5 Prisoner Swap

HAVANA TIMES, Nov. 5 – The U.S. government ruled out a possible exchange of contractor Alan Gross, detained in Cuba since December 2009, for Cuban Gerardo Hernández, who is serving a double life sentence in the U.S., or another of the five members of a Cuban intelligence network dismantled in 1998, according to a letter of the Departments of State and of Justice to Republican Representative Lincoln Díaz-Balart, reported IPS quoting the Miami-based El Nuevo Herald.

  • How about offering to exchange Joanne Chesimard, who escaped from a US prison after being convicted of killing a police officer. She then fled to Cuba. She is still one of the most wanted criminals in the US.
