The Cuba Acoustic Files: “The Balloon that Inflates By Itself”

by Fernando Ravsberg

HAVANA TIMES – In this new chapter of the saga more alleged victims of Cuba’s fantastic acoustic weapons are coming forward. Apparently two more officials from the US Embassy would have suffered the mysterious audio attacks. The balloon continues to inflate and will surely continue to fill it with air until it bursts.

“On the basis of continuous assessments of US government personnel, we can confirm that 24 people have experienced health effects from the attacks,” State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said on Friday.

“As we said earlier, an investigation into the attacks in Cuba is ongoing, and we review our assessments as we receive new information,” she added.

Apparently these weapons must be of a Cuban invention because the scientists of the US Navy and secret services cannot determine what type of artifact is being used. Nor can US doctors confirm the causes of the symptoms described.

Is the Cuban military industry the most advanced in the world?

  • Nick, it is also well known that the US Navy has the most advanced sound technology in the world, often used in the world’s oceans to the detriment of sea life, e.g., destroying sensitive hearings of the whales and the dolphins that will eventually kill them. Nevertheless, the truth will be revealed about the sonic attacks in Havana. The US Left is just as suspicious as you are and often agrees with your concerns as mentioned by the small but increasingly growing progressive press. The larger corporate owned media in America doesn’t bother to print the concerns from the Left.

  • Terry, your comments without fail strike me as coming from the galaxy crazy Trump’s do.

  • A-ha! I thought you were implying that this was definitely a real attack and that it was perpetrated by the Cuban Government. It would seem I misinterpreted your comments then.
As I said, for me the whole thing is a mystery.
    Were there any actual attacks?
I would say probably yes. But I wouldn’t say there is any certainty about it.
If there were, then the idea that it was perpetrated by officially authorised Cuban State Agents would seem to be highly unlikely. Why on earth would the Cuban Government want to damage it’s most important revenue stream – tourism?
I would have also thought it also unlikely that dumb boy trump had ordered this (although I firmly agree with you that he is clearly a crazy individual).

That would perhaps leave the most likely options of:
    a. Some hard-line Communist faction in Cuba that disagrees with the Cuban Government’s rapprochement with the USA (and the ‘evils of capitalism’).
    b. Some hard-line faction in Miami that disagrees with the US Government’s rapprochement with the Cuban leadership (and ‘the evils of communism’).
For me ‘b’ would be perhaps the more likely of the two and if so (given the history), there may well have been assistance from those good ol boys in the CIA (not officially sanctioned of course). This assistance may have taken the form of the supply of the actual technology (I understand this technology to be highly specialized and difficult to get hold of – not something you can get down at your local grocery store).

However I ain’t putting any hard earned money on it either way as the answer may well be none of the above.

  • Disturbingly certain in what view? Please try to be more precise. If you mean, do I believe something caused the symptoms reported, the answer is yes. I don’t know who is responsible. HIGHLY unlikely in my opinion that it is state agents from the US. Really doesn’t make any sense. What for? To disrupt the Cuban tourist industry? At what cost? Revelation before the world court/view? I really don’t think so. Cuba is not that important in international dynamics for anyone but the Cuban people. The US has enough on its plate: e.g., Korean peninsula, Putin, China, Middle East (and, yes, its oil – the lifesblood of any modern economy). Throw on top of that, a crazy US president (at least for the moment). As much as I hate to say it, the US should not give a rat’s ass about Cuba. Much bigger “asses” for “US” to look out for.
What is clear is that Cuba is responsible for the safety of its guest – be it diplomatic or otherwise. Just as the US and any other legitimate country is. (and yes, I consider Cuba a legitimate country in every sense of the phrase, in case you were wondering….)
Has the US military perfected sonic weapons? I don’t know the answer but it is probable that they/we have taken the technology as far as it can go for the time being. Again Nick, what your point??? If it is that the US sabotaged its own diplomats/citizens, give it a break man. As far as I’m concerned, this is lunacy and I’m bored entertaining said irrationality.

  • The whole episode is something of a mystery.
But Joseph, you seem to be disturbingly certain in your view.
Despite this you state that the US military have been experimenting with this since the 1960s ?
    ‘At a minimum’ ??
Does the possibility not strike you that certain factions within this ‘US military’ may have now perfected it ???

  • The curse of being on top is that you are always a target.

  • cuba has no idea what bullshit americians bring ,,but they will learn real fast

  • Moses, show us the evidence that 24 people have had their hearing affected. Or do you always blindly believe everything your government tells you? Until your government issues complete disclosure, subsequently confirmed by multiple independent authorities with access to those supposedly affected… like Judge Judy’s mantra… “if it doesn’t make sense, it’s not true”. What is true is that your government is blatantly involved in an ongoing campaign of mind control. Not surprisingly, they’ve had your mind in their back-pocket for years.

Please remember too that thousands of Cubans who had plans to visit the US will not be able to come now… not as a result of those (alleged) attacks, but because your government’s hollow allegations fit so nicely with their ludicrous and transparent smear campaign to both discredit Cuba and control the hearts and minds of American travelers. Moses, wake up and smell the Nabob. You’re an intelligent guy, but I’m constantly surprised by how trusting you are of your government considering their appalling history of disinformation “attacks” on you and the rest of your fellow Americans.

  • An equally, if not more interesting question is why has the US’ far left not come out to disavow the claims. Surely, they have much to benefit. Perhaps they know more than we do?

  • I read your comment in disbelief:
    – “No scientiest agrees that this (sonic attack?) is possible.” Really???? At a minimum, the US military has been experimenting with since the 1960’s. Tell you what. Put your ear up to an air horn ,sound it off, and report back whether you still think your statement is accurate.
    – “Medical doctors say a concussion from sound is impossible.” I’m no medical doctor, but let’s have you experiment with above suggestion….
    – Who said anything about sound sonic attacks traveling through walls? Where did you get that?
I would never be so rude as to call your observations pathetic. Humorous, if disturbingly so? — indeed.

  • Why do you believe this, when no 1st Party reports have been provided no scientist agrees that this is possible; and, the same for medical doctors (they say a concussion from sound is impossible); and, any physicist will tell you that sound cannot be sharply beamed through a solid object; it disperses and redirects it!

  • Fernando’s sarcasm is not as sharp as he thinks it is. Not to mention it’s in poor taste. At least 24 people have had their hearing affected. Somehow that is a source of humor for Fernando. I wonder if he thinks it’s just as funny that thousands of Cubans who had plans to visit the US will not be able to come now as a result of these attacks. Must be a real knee-slapper for him.

  • Why have no Cubans been affected? Or have they, but that info is being withheld?
