Anat Cohen & Trio Brasileiro – Song of the Day

By Circles Robinson

HAVANA TIMES – Today’s featured artists are Anat Cohen (Israel) and Trio Brasileiro (Brazil) in a live studio performance of “Murmurando”. (2017)

Brazilian Choro music is a cousin of jazz, mixing European melodic and harmonic traditions with African rhythms and sensibilities.  The word “choro” mean “cry” or “lament,” but much of the music sounds bright and peppy.  There’s a very subtle touch of sadness and longing, which Brazilians call “saudade.”

Musicians: Anat Cohen – clarinet,  Dudu Maia – 10 string bandolim,  Douglas Lora – 7 string guitar,  Alexandre Lora – Pandeiro, percussion

Havana Times Song of the Day features artists mostly, but not only, born in Latin America and the Caribbean. Additionally, artists influenced by Latin American rhythms/sounds and/or are of Latin American heritage but born elsewhere. Jazz is another feature of our posts.
