How can I import Cuban charcoal made from Marabu?

Question: I am eagerly wanting to import Cuban Marabu charcoal. Please kindly send me details of the supplier. Please put me in touch with direct Manufacturer.

Answer: In a telephone consultation with the Department for Exportation and Importation of the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture, they say that to explore the possibility of importing products such as Cuban charcoal made from Marabú, there are two options:

  • Contact the Cuban Cámara de Comercio (Chamber of Commerce), or
  • Contact the commercial counselor at the Cuban Embassy within your country.

The Chamber of Commerce has a website at www.camaracuba.cu but it appears to exist only in Spanish. On the left hand side of the home page, under Información (Information), there is a section entitled Para negociar con Cuba (To do business with Cuba). On this page are listed the different steps, as well as an email address where one can obtain more information – [email protected]

In response to the question of “Who exports in Cuba and how?”, the website has a link to another site called CEPEC – or the Centro para la Promoción del Comercio Exterior de Cuba (Foreign Trade Promotion Centre of Cuba). One can also access this site directly at www.cepec.cu which exists in both Spanish and English.

Although this site appears to be mainly directly towards Cuban exporters, it would appear that they too could provide some useful information about obtaining Cuban charcoal made from Marabú. There contact information and email addresses are listed below

    Dear Sir,

    My company trades charcoal in Greece. I’m interested in importing charcoal from Cuba and I have contacted the Embassy of Cuba in Greece to get information about the Cuban companies that export that product. Unfortunately, although I was given the e-mail addresses of two companies, I wasn’t about to contact them. I’ve sent them an e-mail but I got no answer. I also tried to call them but the telephone communication is a little difficult.
    I wonder if you could tell me how to contact them. I would really appreciate any further direction you could give me.
