Korea Shuts Down Taipei in Baseball Classic

HAVANA TIMES, March 6 – Jin Young Lee hit a grand slam to lead Korea’s big six-run first inning against Chinese Taipei on Friday in the second game of Group A play in World Baseball Classic II taking place in Japan. The final score was 9-0. Korea had 10 hits to 5 for the losers.

Taipei (0-1) now plays China (0-1) in its second Group A game Friday at 10:30 p.m. EST, with rivals Japan (1-0) and Korea (1-0) taking the field on Saturday at 5:00 EST. Cuba plays its first game in Group B on Sunday in Mexico City against South Africa at 2:00 EST.
