HAVANA TIMES — Rafael Correa won reelection in Ecuador with 56.5% of the vote on Sunday, reported Publico.es on Monday with 95% of the ballots tabulated.
The US and European educated economist, first elected in 2006, won the vote in 23 of 24 provinces, demonstrating both his sustained popularity and the fractured opposition.
Ex-banker Guillermo Lasso finished second with fewer than 25% while former president Lucio Gutiérrez had barely 7%.
