HAVANA TIMES —The Cuban Meteorology Institute reported record maximum temperatures at or above 35.5 ° C (96 ° F) from Sunday April 19 to Tuesday April 21l. According to the center this happened for the first time since 1909, when it began to collect data at the Casablanca Weather Station across from Havana Bay. According to the information the high temperatures were the product of strong sunshine and light winds.

For this week, no improvement is expected in terms of temperatures. The heat will continue, as the area continues under the influence of the Azores anticyclone and warm prevailing winds from the south.

On Thursday and Friday there will be partly cloudy skies. From Saturday to Monday, sunny; then on Tuesday and Wednesday partly cloudy. The likelihood of rain is low.

Temperatures will range about 33° C (91° F) reaching 35° C (96° F) on the 23rd and next Monday. The lows in the early mornings will be stable around 24° C (72° F). In addition to the high temperatures the humidity will cause a feeling of greater warmth.

The sea surface temperature will average 27° C (79° F) with no danger for small vessels.
