HAVANA TIMES — United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki-moon received Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez in New York on Saturday while the island’s head diplomat was attending the annual debate of the General Assembly of the international organization.
During the meeting, Ban Ki-moon stressed the important contribution of Cuba to the peace efforts in Colombia and Cuba’s fulfillment of its Millennium Development Goals.
The Cuban foreign minister was set to speak on Monday at the plenary of the General Assembly.
In his chat with Ban Ki-moon, Rodríguez explained the consequences of the intensification of the US embargo against Cuba in recent years, particularly in the financial sector.
