HAVANA TIMES – The presidents of Cuba and Vietnam agreed in Havana to several actions to strengthen partnerships between the two countries , following the visit of a high-level Vietnamese delegation to the island from 26 to 28 March, reported Granma daily.
A special emphasis is to be made in areas such as trade, agriculture, telecommunications, energy , public health , biotechnology , pharmacology, manufacturing, defense , tourism, education and training.
The leaders stressed the importance of the bilateral Medium Term Economic Agenda, signed during the visit, and recognized the importance of other agreements established in the areas of public health, agriculture and telecommunications and information.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung invited his Cuban counterpart to visit Vietnam. He expressed his belief that economic reforms in Cuba “will open a new stage of development in the interests of the Cuban people and the building of a prosperous and sustainable socialism.”
During his visit to the island, Tan Dung also met with former President Fidel Castro.
