HAVANA TIMES — The second half of the Cuban baseball season comes to an end next week after several make-up games that could affect the positions in the final standings. The teams assured to make the playoffs are Matanzas, Ciego de Avila, Pinar del Rio and Industriales.

The postseason was scheduled to begin shortly after the make-up games but has now been postponed until March 24. The reason for the delay is the March 22 exhibition game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cuban national team, which will reportedly begin practice starting March 9.

With hurried final repairs underway on Havana’s Lationamericano Stadium in preparation for the Rays-Team Cuba game, the Cuban Baseball Federation announced that Industriales (the team from the capital), will be able to play its home playoff games in the stadium.
