HAVANA TIMES — The Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 on Tuesday evening to win the third World Baseball Classic. It was their second shutout win over the neighboring Caribbean island rival.
Japan, the winner of the first two Classics, finished third and Holland fourth, followed by Cuba, the United States, Italy and Chinese Taipei.
