HAVANA TIMES, Feb. 3 – Cuba has ratified the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Forced Disappearance, a new indication of this Caribbean nation’s will to strengthen its cooperation with international mechanisms of promotion and protection of human rights.
The ratification documents were presented Monday by Abelardo Moreno, Cuban ambassador to the UN, at the main venue of that organization in New York. Cuba is the eighth country signing the relatively new Convention approved by the UN General Assembly in December 2006. To take force it needs at least 20 states to sign on.
