Cuba-related Campaign Gifts Down

HAVANA TIMES — Donors and political action committees (PACs) associated with Cuban issues have reduced their presence in the current US election campaign, as the November 7 elections approach, reports the El Nuevo Herald.

Donors have expressed that the decreased level of contributions this year is due to the weak economy, people having become tired with the issue, and the likelihood that Congress will not be able to carry out any policy initiative related to the island.

Despite the growing number of entrepreneurs and groups supporting a thaw in relations between the two nations, the greatest amount of donations is still coming from committees that support the embargo, such as the United States-Cuba Democracy PAC.
