Cuba to Debut Against Martinique in Caribbean Soccer Cup

HAVANA TIMES — Cuba’s soccer team will face Martinique in the second day of competition of the Caribbean Football Cup, scheduled for December 7 to 16 in Antigua and Barbuda, reported local Cuban media sources.

The island’s team will compete in Group B alongside French Guyana, Martinique and Jamaica.

According to EFE, the event will result in four slots being filled for teams to go on to the Gold Cup games of CONCACAF (the Central American and Caribbean Confederation of Football), slated for 2013.

In the most recent contest, in 2010, Cuba finished in third place after beating Granada 1-0, though Jamaica was the ultimate champion.
