Cuba to Host Latin American Basketball Tournament

HAVANA TIMES — “Starting this Tuesday and running until November 23, Cuba will host the 29th Latin American Basketball Tournament in the capital city’s Ramon Fonst Multipurpose Sports Center,” announced the Cuban Basketball Federation.

For this year’s competition, where teams will compete in a system of every team against the other, and with the top two teams competing for the gold medal, competitions will only be between male teams and the contest will the categories of 11, 14, 15 and 16 year-old players.

Cuba will be participating with two teams per category, “Capitalinos” and “Creoles,” while others teams participating in the event will include those from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, according to statements by Federation executive Ruperto Herrera.
