HAVANA TIMES, March 14 — European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Louis Michel will travel to Cuba next week to meet with the new Cuban ministers of foreign affairs and foreign trade and foreign investment, Bruno Rodriguez and Rodrigo Malmierca, respectively, it was announced to the press in Brussels.
Rapprochement between the European Union and Cuba took hold with greater dialogue in 2008 and Michel has visited the island on several occasions. The EU countries went on record last year voting for a UN resolution demanding that the United States drop its half century blockade against Cuba, which has also affected European businesses wanting to trade with the island.
