Cuba-Venezuela in Pan Am Baseball

HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 19 — Cuba plays Venezuela on Wednesday in its first baseball contest of the Pan American Games taking place in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The Cubans finished second in the recently concluded IBAF World Cup, losing in the finals on Saturday by a score of 2-1 to Holland.  Venezuela ended in the seventh position.

The Pan Am baseball tournament is divided into two groups.  Group A: United States, Dominican Republic, Panama and the host Mexico.  Group B: Cuba, Venezuela Canada and Puerto Rico.

Cuba will play Canada and Puerto Rico on Thursday and Friday.

Any changes in the Cuban team that represented the island in Panama have yet to be announced.
