HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 29 – Cuban baseball authorities are negotiating with the United States to receive the million dollars due the team for its participation in the second World Baseball Classic last March, reported IPS.
In the first Classic in 2006, when Cuba finished second, former president Fidel Castro asked that the prize money be donated to victims of hurricane Katrina.
Cuba had also offered to send over 1,500 doctors to help out in the aftermath, a gesture rejected by the Bush administration.
