Cuban Chess Player Leinier Dominguez Wins in St. Petersburg

HAVANA TIMES — Leinier Dominguez obtained the crown of the Super Cup in rapid chess in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he totaled 7.5 points in 11 games, out-performing local player Peter Svidler, reports the Cuban Agency of Information.

With five wins, the same number of ties and only one defeat (against Russian Maxin Matlakov), the Cuban player left the hometown players Peter Svidler (7.5) and Nikita Vitugov (7) in second and third positions

The island’s chess player will begin playing today in the finals of the European Club Championships taking place in Israel.
