Cuban Dissidents Nominated for ‘Front Line Defenders’ Award

HAVANA TIMES — Several Cuban dissidents were nominated this week as “Front Line Defenders Award” from the Cuban Human Rights Observatory, which is based in Madrid.

Among those proposed are Elizardo Sanchez (leader of the Cuban Commission for Human Rights and National Reconciliation), Antonio Rodiles (Estado de Sats), former political prisoners Felix Navarro Rodriguez, Ivan Hernandez Carrillo, Angel Moya Acosta and Jose Daniel Ferrer Garcia, and Ladies in White leader Berta Soler Fernandez.

Front Line, founded in Ireland in 2001, is headquartered in Dublin and has a special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, reads the note.
