Cuban Doctors Unaccounted for in Bolivia

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban doctors Joan Manuel Crespo and Janeth Gil were declared missing on Thursday by police in the Bolivian city of El Alto, reported dpa.

“The Cuban doctors have been missing since the evening of Tuesday, October 30. Crespo was scheduled to travel to Cuba at the end of his mission as the coordinator of the work of Cuban doctors in El Alto, and his place was to be taken by Dr. Gil,” said a police spokesman.

The Cubans were last seen in Ciudad Satélite, to the south of El Alto.

Cuba’s embassy in Bolivia reported that some 135,000 Cuban professionals have participated in various medical missions in that South American nation since 2006.
