Cuban Women’s Basketball Team Triumphs

HAVANA TIMES — Cuba took the finals of the Centrobasket women’s tournament on Sunday in Monterey, Mexico by beating Puerto Rico 58-47, reported Prensa Latina.

The most valuable player of the game was Yamara Bitter, who scored 19 points and had four rebounds and two assists.

The other positions in the tournament were in descending order: Mexico, Jamaica, El Salvador and Costa Rica.

With this title the Cubans continue a successful cycle that had already included the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship, also held in Mexico. The squad is readying for the World Cup to be held in Turkey in September.
