Cuba’s Abel Prieto in Caracas

HAVANA TIMES, May 29 – Cuba’s Minister of Culture Abel Prieto and his counterparts of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas are in Caracas, Venezuela on Friday to evaluate the development of the regional integration mechanism in the sphere of culture.

Known by its Spanish acronym ALBA, the regional body currently has Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica and Honduras as member nations.

The ALBA stresses fraternity and support among sister nations, mutually beneficial trade and social development. It is seen as the flip side of the corporate friendly free trade schemes promoted by the United States.
