Cuba’s Bebo/Chucho Valdes Win Grammy

HAVANA TIMES, Jan. 31 — Father and son jazz pianists Bebo and Chucho Valdes have won a 2010 Grammy award for the Best Latin Jazz Album at the ceremony taking place Sunday night in Los Angeles.

The award winning album is titled “Juntos Para Siempre” (Together forever).

Father Bebo left Cuba in 1960 and currently lives in Spain.  He already had won five Grammy awards.

Chucho, his son, still resides in Havana and the new Grammy is his fourth.

The younger Valdes is the chief organizer of the annual Havana Jazz Plaza Festival.  The 2010 event is set for December.
