HAVANA TIMES, Nov. 9 — The Cuban government aims to expand the opening for foreign investment and reduce the State’s weight in the national economy, among other measures outlined in the Draft Economic and Social Policy Guidelines of the 6th Congress of the Communist Party, to be held in April 2011.
According to the text, the authorities will also give greater opportunities to the development of the domestic private sector and will give autonomy to public enterprises, which will be eliminated if they are not efficient, reported IPS.
