Cuba’s Lenier Dominguez Ranked 13th Worldwide in Chess

HAVANA TIMES  – Cuban Grand Master Leinier Dominguez began this week ranked 13th in the world rankings, according to data published by the International Chess Federation.

With a coefficient ELO of 2,757 points, Dominguez, the recent winner of the Grand Prix of Thessaloniki, moved up from position 20 he had held in October and December 2012.

Meanwhile, Cuban Grand Master Lazaro Bruzon is ranked 57 globally, with an ELO of 2,689.

The current leader is Norwegian Magnus Carlsen with 2,862 points, ahead of Armenian Levon Aronian (2,813), Italian Fabiano Caruana (2,796) and Russian Vladimir Kramnik (2,784), Alexander Grischuk (2,780) and Sergey Karjakin.
