HAVANA TIMES, May 11 — Mariela Castro, daughter of President Raul Castro, and director of the National Center for Sex Education (Cenesex) made an appeal to the University of Havana to join the campaign taking place this month for respect of peoples’ sexual orientation and gender identity.

In speaking Tuesday to a gathering of students, Castro said: “We are not trying to divide or confront the Cuban population”… “We want a new society”, one without discrimination by class, race, gender, ethnic group, birthplace, language, among others, she said.

Castro called on the university students to joint the struggle since they will be the future professionals and decision makers on life in Cuba, noted IPS.
