HAVANA TIMES — Two recently appointed officials by the Cuban Communist Party were also incorporated in the State Council, the highest body of the National Assembly, the official media reported on the island.
The designated officials, reaffirmed in a formal vote by parliament, were Ulises Guilarte, the new general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) and Rafael Ramón Santiesteban, the new president of the National Association of Small Farmers.
Guilarte replaces Carmen Rosa López, second secretary of the CTC, who resigned to facilitate the the appointment of the new “union leader” while Felix Santiesteban replaces Gonzalez, who died a few weeks ago.
Voting in the Cuban parliament over the past five decades have always reaffirmed the proposals presented by the country’s leadership.
