HAVANA TIMES – Ecuador police arrested 16 suspected members of an international network trafficking Cubans, operating in Quito with support from police officers and notaries, AFP reported .
According to the report of the Ministry of Interior, the traffickers bribe poor Ecuadorians to sign letters of invitation to Cubans and facilitate their entry. The islanders had to pay 800 to thousand dollars for the letters to get in the South American nation.
Among those arrested are two immigration officers and notaries, and during the operation police seized half a million dollars in cash, three guns and immigration documents.
