HAVANA TIMES — The 32nd Caribbean “Fire Festival” celebrations begin on Tuesday in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba with the participation of artists, intellectuals and groups carrying on the traditional folk cultures of more than 30 nations, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The activities of this well-known festival will run through July 9 this year and are dedicated to the culture of the island of Martinique, which is being represented by a delegation of 350 guests among the 1,350 foreign participants at the event.

During the opening day, the city’s Heredia Theater will host the inaugural gala, while the Martinique exhibit will open its doors to highlight much of the history and culture of the birthplace of that great poet Aime Cesaire.
