Gold for Cuba’s Idalis Ortiz in World Judo Championship

HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban ldalis Ortiz won a gold medal on Saturday with her performance in the XXX World Judo Championship held in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, reported the Cuban media.

The London 2012 Olympic gold medalist had another excellent showing in the more than 78 Kg category with four wins in as many outings, all by ippon, except the semifinal bout against Emilie Andeol of France.

This performance marked the second consecutive crown for Ortiz in world championships and she was also chosen the best athlete of the event. Her male compatriot Jose Armenteros obtained ??a silver medal in the 100 kilos division.
