HAVANA TIMES — The far eastern province of Guantanamo will host this year’s July 26th commemoration, the top political holiday on the Cuban calendar.
The date recalls the attack on the Moncada Garrison back in 1953, which, while unsuccessfully militarily, is considered the spark that led to the Cuban revolution five and a half years later.
Twice previously in 1985 and 1995, Guantanamo was chosen to host the major event.
