Havana Exhibits Coins Associated with the Vatican

HAVANA TIMES, March 8 — The Havana Numismatic Museum put on display this past Friday coins and medals relating to the history of the Vatican, in an exhibit consisting of items from different pontifical periods, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The exhibition will be open throughout the month on the occasion of the upcoming visit to the Caribbean country by Pope Benedict XVI, scheduled for between March 26 and 28.

According to the institution’s museologist, three of the eight display cases present stages of papal coins prior to the signing of the Lateran Treaties in 1929, when the state of the Vatican City was formed.
