HAVANA TIMES — Tropical Storm Erika is currently moving in the eastern Caribbean, heading west-northwest at 16 mph. At 11:00 a.m. (EDT) on Thursday the storm has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, with stronger gusts. During the passage of the tropical storm to the west, the northern regions of Cuba may be affected by wind and rain, so it is recommended to follow the evolution of its path.
There are currently favorable conditions over western Cuba for moderate convection and the occurrence of showers and thunderstorms. These conditions will persist for the next 24 hours. Winds will be variable and weak, with speeds between 7 and 10 mph.
High temperatures are expected between 32 and 33° C (90 and 91 F) and the lows will range around 25° C (77 F).
The sea surface temperature will be stable at 30° C (86 F).
