Heavy rains
By Yanet Diaz
HAVANA TIMES – This week expect high humidity, abundant cloudiness and rainfall, which can become strong in some locations. Winds will blow mainly from the Southeast, with speeds between 9 and 15 mph, and will be stronger towards the weekend, reaching 19 mph in some zones.
The maximum temperatures will be between 30 and 32° C (86 and 90 F), while the lows will range between 23 and 24° C (73 and 75 F). The sea surface temperature will be 28° C (82 F).
Meteorological conditions:
The high ocean pressures continue to influence the island, imposing winds from the southeast to the east and high temperatures during the day. At high levels of the atmosphere a low pressure system is located on the southeast of the Gulf of Mexico. The influence of this system, combined with a warm and humid surface flow from the southeast, is contributing to inducing rains and electrical storms in the west of Cuba. Humidity will continue high for several days, increasing the probability of heavy rains and thunderstorms towards the weekend.
