HAVANA TIMES — The 62nd Hemingway International Tournament, which began on Tuesday in Havana and will run until Saturday, is being attended by enthusiasts from 17 countries – with the US being the country the most well represented at the event, reported EFE.
The president of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), Robert Kramer, said he was “very satisfied” with his visit to the island. He also expressed his appreciation for the participation of six Americans yachts, which he saw as being a sign that “the times are changing.”
The competition is also bringing together anglers from France and the Ukraine, in two contests, and one involving Italy, Mexico, Russia, Latvia, Spain, Holland and Venezuela.
The Hemingway Tournament is one of the oldest of its types in the world, preceded only by the Tuna World Cup in Nova Scotia and the Tarpon Tournament in Mexico.
