HAVANA TIMES, Dec. 12 – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez meets on Saturday with former Cuban President Fidel Castro. Chavez arrived in Havana on Friday night to participate in a summit of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) which begins Sunday in the Cuban capital.
Fidel Castro has not appeared in public since July 2006 when he underwent intestinal surgery. However, he routinely meets with foriegn leaders and writes a regular newspaper column. He is considered the senior advisor to his brother, President Raul Castro.
