International Fishing Tournament off the Cuban Coast

HAVANA TIMES — The Marlin Marina, located on the Cayo Guillermo to the north of the central Cuban province of Ciego de Avila, in mid-October will host the third annual Jardines del Rey “Big Game Trolling” International Fishing Tournament”, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

Luis Baez, a commercial specialist with the Ministry of Tourism in the province, said the event will be governed by the rules of the International Game Fishing Association through the “mark and release system.”

Professional and amateur anglers from various nations will be participating in the event, which will cover an area extending up to three miles north-northeast between Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, in the Old Bahamas Channel.

The tournament will feature specialized crews, each with over 15 years of experience in the area, aboard fishing yachts of between 33 and 52 feet in length, said Baez.
