HAVANA TIMES, Sept. 18 – The Cuban Music Institute explained on Friday the reasons this Sunday’s concert featuring Juanes and numerous top Cuban and foreign artists takes place in the afternoon.

The promoters had asked for the concert to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST so it could be broadcast live in Europe.

Likewise, the Institute noted that it would have been too difficult to transport the lighting equipment necessary for a concert of this magnitude to be held at night.

Summer temperatures are still holding in Havana, averaging 32-33 Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) so the authorities are cautioning music lovers to where caps or hats and bring plenty of water.

Food stands will be set up on the outskirts of the Plaza of the Revolution where the concert will be held, although their capacity to meet the potential demand remains to be seen.

Cuban TV is offering satellite transmission of the mega concert free of charge to all countries.
