No US Reply to Cuba’s Offer to Dialogue over Alan Gross

HAVANA TIMES — Washington still has not responded to a Cuban proposal seeking a solution to the case of US citizen Alan Gross, who is being held in Havana, said Josefina Vidal, the director of the North America desk of Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“So far we have received no responses, we have only heard some public statements saying that the US government has nothing to talk about with respect to that issue,” she said.

The diplomat considers the proposal by the island to be a first step towards finding a solution to the case of agent Gross, who was convicted in 2011 and sentenced to 15 years in prison for smuggling illegal telecommunications equipment onto the island.
