HAVANA TIMES — US President Barack Obama defended his administration’s relaxation of the embargo against Cuba, reported AFP.
Obama said the elimination of restrictions on remittances to Cuba “and travel by relatives was the right thing to do” during his administration. He added that his “hope is that the government of Cuba begins to recognize that their system and doesn’t work anymore.” Those comments were broadcast on the America TV channel in Miami on Tuesday.
The current US president, speaking as a candidate for his November 6 reelection bid to a second term, also reiterated his opinion that Venezuela presents “no danger” to his country.
