Raul Castro Concludes Russia Visit

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban President Raul Castro concluded on Wednesday a three-day stay in Russia, where he met with President Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev and other officials.

Media in that country commented on collaboration plans discussed during the visit such as Russian investment in Cuban hydrocarbons, tourism development, communications, shipping and machinery production, as well as the Russian Glonass positioning system.

Putin asked that his warmest greetings and best congratulations be conveyed to former Cuban President Fidel Castro, while Medvedev invited the current president of the island to attend the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014.

In general, the two countries reinforced their traditional ties of friendship and cooperation, noted the Cuban press.

Castro also visited China and Vietnam on his Asian tour.
